The Assasination of Geraldine Ferraro

Geraldine Ferraro has been forced to remove herself from Hillary Clinton's campaign for comments she made in an interview. Frankly, this is bullshit.

Here is what she said: "If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position. And if he was a woman (of any color), he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept." (Here's a whole article with a good summation of the entire fiasco)

She was then called out (a week later) on her "offensive and racist" statements. Instead of backing down like a good liberal soldier, she defended her position.

Here is some of what she said in her defense:

"Any time anybody does anything that in any way pulls this campaign down and says let's address reality and the problems we're facing in this world, you're accused of being racist, so you have to shut up," Ferraro said. "Racism works in two different directions. I really think they're attacking me because I'm white. How's that?"

Ferraro said she was simply stating an obvious truth, as seen in exit polls that show Obama taking as much as 80 percent of the black vote in the Democratic primaries.
"In all honesty, do you think that if he were a white male, there would be a reason for the black community to get excited for a historic first?" Ferraro said. "Am I pointing out something that doesn't exist?"

Is she pointing out something that doesn't exist? Is Obama not benefiting from being black?

Earlier in the campaign, Michelle Obama was asked why Hillary was getting more of the black vote in some states than Obama. Her response was, "The black community will wake up!" Let's not forget how she's now proud of her country because Obama is running for President.

Is this not playing the race card??? Obama can play the race card whenever he wants and trump up his "historic" campaign. If anyone points that out- RACIST! Obama even wants to run away from his middle name (RACISM!)! But Mitt Romney was constantly barraged about his religion.

I'm sick of political double standards and obvious bullshit like this story. The first black man running for President (if you discount Frederick Douglass in the 1800s) should not be quesitoned or it should not be mentioned that the historic nature of his campaign might bump him up? Ferraro even mentions that she was nominated VP because she was a woman!!! She's speaking the truth! Politicians should not be punished for this.

What a shame...
